Exercise Activity List

Are you bored with your current exercise routine? Do you want to become more physically active, but just don't know where to start? Do you just want to try something new? You can find it here!

The following is a list of exercise and activity ideas. Some of these ideas are perfect for beginners. Others are more suited for someone who is currently active. Look through the list and see what interests you. If there is something on the list you haven't tried, but want to, give it a try!

Check the list again in a few months, just in case you want to try something new or you are in better shape and can now do a more demanding workout!

Follow the links below to see all the activities for each category. The categories are not mutually exclusive so an activity may fit into more than one category, but is only listed in one. The idea here is to just see how many fun things there are to do!

You might be familiar with some of these activities, but some may be new to you. This is your opportunity to try something you've never done before!

Also, a large number of these activities do not require a lot of money. Some may cost you, but there are a lot you can do on a low or non-existent budget.

Several of these items could also be combined. For example, if you go camping, you might also go fishing, hiking, and biking on that trip. Have fun and mix and match these ideas!

A couple of cautions here:

  • Before starting the more intense activities, you might want to check with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to do them.
  • Some of these activities may not expend as many calories as others (like bird watching), so be careful with the amount of calories you ingest while you're doing them.

Rating System

I've tried to give you a general idea of how much effort each of the activities takes by using the following rating system for each item:

LA – Light aerobic activity
A – Aerobic activity
HA – Heavy aerobic activity
S – Strength/anaerobic activity

These are not hard and fast ratings, but should serve as a guide as you explore the different activities listed.
